Twitter Futures - 'Mockingjay - Part 2' 'Goosebumps' Unveil New Trailers

The Minions have finally left the list of upcoming movies (and are doing wonders at the box office as long predicted), so that leaves the way for something else to nab top place, something which Paper Towns willingly snatched. Its still running at about a third to a quarter of the buzz that The Fault In
Our Stars was but as I've said that doesn't spell trouble here at all. Stars helped to build in a large audience who are going to see the film regardless. I think it has a strong chance of an opening in the range of $20-$30 million which would be a huge win once again for John Green and company.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens walked away with second spot despite not having any big news on the week. Just its natural churn as fanboys continue to discuss and share any slight morsel of news. I'll go out on a limb and say that if J.J Abrams can deliver a strong story (which he has done time and time again with past projects) this is going to not only be the highest grossing film on the year but also give Avatar's overall record a run for its money.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 came in second on the week due to the buzz it received from its 'trailer' of sorts, more like a promotional propaganda video for District 13 against the capital. Coming off of the weakest opening of the franchise there are a lot of questions as to if the final installment will see a return to the financial heights reached by the first two films or continue the slide. Its hard to tell based on this promo-clip as I don't have suitable comparisons but this unique marketing clip getting as much as 40k tweets on a single day was indeed impressive. Its first trailer last month lagged noticeably behind all other Hunger Games films in terms of buzz but with its storied past and massive worldwide revenues my money is on it rallying to become the most talked about by the time its release draws close.

On the eve of its release Ant-Man continues to impress. Yes the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be reaching a bit to bring heroes to the big screen but it appears as though they have once again managed to pull the rabbit out of the hat.

Deadpool popping up in any top 5 at the moment is simply ludicrous and goes a long way towards demonstrating just how attractive he is to not only comic book fans but people in general. The Minions of the comic book world he is arguably the most popular anti-hero ever created by Marvel and with a clever marketing campaign and promotion this is going to turn a lot of heads next February.

Lastly, though it didn't crack the top five, Goosebumps' new trailer pushed it to #6 on the week and over 30,000 tweets on Wednesday. The big question here is if it will be able to attract younger kids who were the core demographic for the books and TV series or if only young adults who were fans as kids will come out. If it can manage to draw from both new and old fans of the books then this could very well be a modern day Jumanji or Night At The Museum, both of which were $100 million earners
