A 20-month-old baby boy was stolen on Sunday at Inuosegba in Abeokuta North during the naming ceremony of his cousin, and while a search party set out for the missing toddler, a shrine was discovered about 50 metres from the house where the event was to take place.
The toddler, Opeyemi Ogundele(pictured) attended the naming ceremony of his uncle’s newborn baby with his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Ogundele, a tailor.
Wife of Mrs. Ogundele’s brother, Mr. Ola Osunleke had given birth to a baby girl last Sunday.
One of the early birds at the occasion, the 26-year-old-mum was said to have left Opeyemi in the midst of other children playing in the corridor of the house to join other adults.
But when she later looked out for her son, he was nowhere to be found.
The situation became messier when a search party discovered a shrine in an abandoned bungalow(pictured right besieged by crowd) about 50 metres from the house of the Osunlekes and vandalized it.
According to Mrs. Ogundele, “I started searching for my son, and searched a new bungalow where I saw two men sitting outside the house. I asked if they saw my boy, but they looked at each other and replied no.
“As I turned away, they started laughing. I searched behind the house where I saw many fetish objects. I quickly turned back and I couldn’t find the young men again, so I called my husband Daniel and he reported to the police.”
Police Commissioner Abdulmajid Ali said investigation has begun.
He said: “I want to make it clear to the people that I am here to work and reduce crime.

“The site that was discovered has no relationship with the boy and other human parts found there.
“We will let you see what really happened when we finish our investigation.”
