Girl, 14, killed in Kimberley house fire

Cape Town - A 14-year-old girl died in a house fire in Monument Heights, Kimberley on Friday night.
ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing confirmed paramedics and other emergency services were alerted to the fire last night and on arrival found the house ablaze.
“A woman and two children, believed to be a 12-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy, had made it out the house safely. They were found in the yard,” Bodasing confirmed.
The flames were too high for the firemen to get into the building, she said, and when Fire and Rescue Services extinguished the fire, they found a girl in one of the corridors in the house.

“Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for her. She was declared dead.”
One of the surviving children were taken to hospital for slight injuries and bruising, Bodasing said, and the mother of the dead teenager wanted to stay until her child was brought out of the damaged house.
While the cause of the blaze is not yet known, authorities were on the scene to investigate further.
